We ask a lot of our horses when we want them to load on a trailer. We are expecting a naturally claustrophobic flight animal to step into a small, confined space. Unless they are very used to trailering regularly we are disrupting their routine. Sometimes they have previously had bad experiences in a trailer, and sometimes they just simply haven't set foot in a trailer since they came to our barn 10 years ago. But now they are sick or injured, and the quickest way to get them help is to load them and take them to the vet.
